Overview

On the right panel of this blog, you will find a list of how-to tutorials to help you get started making home movies.

To get the most benefit out of the how-to tutorials, it is best to follow the tutorials one at at a time - without skipping - in the order they are listed.

Many of the tutorials are in the form of screen-capture video tutorials. This "watch and learn" approach is especially useful for video editing because there are technical concepts that are difficult to describe in text. With video tutorials, you see exactly what I'm talking about and you learn much quicker.

The video editing software we recommend is Windows Movie Maker. It is a popular, free video-editing software by Microsoft and perfect for busy and time-pressed families, parents and hobbyists. You'll find a rich set of features that allows you to make a polished home movie with nifty transitions, special effects, titles, pictures and music very quickly.

If you are ready for a detailed step-by-step, click-by-click video course on how to create movies with Windows Movie Maker, I recommend my online video course, "Make Home Movie" that I offer for $39.

You are about to embark on an amazing journey. And in the process you will create video stories of your life, your family, your anything, that will be treasured for many years to come. Like the video I made below. It captures a moment in time that would otherwise be forgotten and lost forever.

Ready to start? First, let's : set up your movie studio.
