Import Video from PC to Movie Maker
Most of the time you’ll be capturing video directly from your camcorder. However, sometimes the video already exists on your PC because it was previously captured from the camcorder, or it was downloaded from the web or extracted from a DVD to the PC, for example.
Watch this tutorial to see how you would import video that’s already on your PC into Movie Maker.
NOTES
Note that on the Movie Maker Tasks List, Capture from Video Device is a different task from Import video.
You use Import video when the video file is already on the hard drive. You use Capture from Video Device if the video is still on the camcorder tape.
When you do a Capture from Video Device, Movie Maker actually does 2 things: 1) it uploads the video from the camcorder to your PC hard drive and 2) it imports the video into Movie Maker into a new collection. So actually, Import video is part of Capture from Video Device.
Sorry to belabor the difference between Import from PC and Capture from Device. Newbies get confused a lot because they fail to differentiate these two. Anyway, time for the video tutorial:
Homework
- If you have a video file already on your hard drive, import it into Movie Maker.
- If not, you get a break, no homework.
