How to Edit Your Video Clips
To make a movie, you simply string together a sequence of video clips and pictures. Almost always, I need to trim the video clips (take out the boring parts) so the movie has a smooth, tight flow. This tutorial is broken up into two video tutorials:
1. How to Add and Re-sequence Clips on the timeline and
2. How to Trim and Delete Clips from the timeline

2. The next tutorial is: How to Trim and Edit Clips
NOTES
You’ve seen how quickly it is the add and re-sequence clips, trim or delete clips from the timeline. What will take you the most time is not clicking, dragging and dropping. It’s deciding which picture captures the tone perfectly, which exact point to trim the video to, which music sets the perfect mood.
Good Enough is Good Enough.
You got to keep it sustainable. You’re going to be doing a lot of these movies. You’ll naturally get much, much better with time. Don’t get all hung up with your first movie and get so burnt out you won’t do another one.
Homework
- If you have not created a new Movie Maker project, do it now and save the project with a descriptive name.
- If you have not imported your video clips, pictures and sound files into Movie Maker, don’t continue. Get back to Section II and do the homework there.
- Now you are ready. Drag and drop a few video clips and pictures on the timeline.
- Re-sequence the clips on the timeline, and trim a couple of the video clips and pictures.
- Delete a clip from the timeline.
- Save your project.
