NOTES

  • When you Capture Video from a camcorder into Movie Maker, Movie Maker automatically creates a new collection for you with the same name as the video file.
  • But when you IMPORT video clips, pictures and sound files from your PC hard drive into Movie Maker, you must first choose a Collection to import them into.  That means the Collection have to exist first.
  • When you start building your movie timeline, you can add video clips, pictures and sound files from any collection.  Stuff in Collections can be used in any project.

BIG TIP: Nevertheless, do try to group your video clips, pictures and sound files for one movie in one collection so you can find them easily.  This is a matter of preference.  You'll develop your own working preference with time.

Homework

  1. Create a New Collection and name it: First Movie.

  2. Make Video Effects the active collection.  You should see a bunch of Video Effects in the Collection pane.

  3. Make Special Effects the active collection.  You should see a bunch of transitions in the Collection pane.

  4. Make First Movie the active collection.  You should see nothing in the Collection pane (because it's a brand new collection).
